Explore the high-altitude world of Andean plants through the lens of a local guide, a safeguard of ancestral wisdom. Respectfully immerse in an agricultural community where plants continue to be used for medicine and are the main form of alimentation. Traverse the undulating landscape, remain open to the spontaneity of life in the countryside, and receive photographic assistance and cultural insights. You will also discover exciting subjects for macrophotography.

 

As modernity closes in and climate shifts continue, this is a unique opportunity to not just witness but also document the amazing world of Andean plants and landscapes.

ITINERARY OF THE SECRETS OF ANDEAN PLANTS:

8:00 am Pick-up from hotel

9:30 am Arrive at Misminay and breakfast: Share delicious humitas and herbal teas with our local guides

10:00 am Begin exploration of Misminay, experiencing the day-to-day of the community while photographing the stunning plants and landscapes

*Break (Take a rest and try chicha de jora, a fermented corn drink and energizer of the Andes.)

1:30 pm Return to starting point

2:00 pm Lunch: a variety of tubers and potatoes (pachamanca) with uchucuta sauce.

3:00 pm Depart from Misminay and return to hotel

4:20 pm Estimated arrival at hotel.

HEADING TO THE SACRED VALLEY?

If you would like to end the day in the Sacred Valley or have a train to catch from Ollantaytambo let us know and we can make the arrangements to drop you there on time.

SUNDAY MORNING BONUS

If this tour is booked on a Sunday it will include a visit to a local Andean market that is only open on Sundays. You’ll find lots of locals buying fruit, veggies and wools as well. The workers of this market are typical Quechua people and still dress in a very traditional way. For this reason, this is an amazing location for portraits! The combination of colors in their clothing and hats make for great images. You can also approach specific people for great portraits (we do have some local traditions quechua people that we are friends with – photographic access guaranteed.

    I did a trek with Dan, and it was absolutely amazing! Unbelievable scenery and experience and will never forget it. Cant compliment Dan enough, a very knowledgable and all round nice guy. A truly once in a lifetime experience that I would recommend to anybody
