1
Surquillo's market
Colors, low lights, smells… There is no better place to start our day. 30mins in the market will awake your artistic side for the rest of the day.
Many many great photo opportunities also makee for a great visit. Lots of stalls selling a wide array of fruits and veggies, also a huge meat section and chicken section and seafood section. This is where the locals go to shop. Outside some prepared food for sale, some local musicians performing and more.
Great fun to experience local life, no tourists at all usually. Well worth seeing.
2
Callao Monumental
The Monumental Callao is the heart of Lima’s artistic movement. It used to be one of the most sketchy district of Lima, but now it has transformed itself to a continental and worldwide art reference.
Street Art, Art gallery, colonial buildings… The Callao Monumental is UNIQUE.
3
Barranco
Barranco's bohemian streets. The district is considered to be the city's most romantic and bohemian, being the home and working place of many of Peru's leading artists, musicians, designers and photographers.
Walking through these quiet and beautiful streets is the best way to discover this artsy area of Lima.
4
Mate Museum
Though quite small, this is a wonderful museum dedicated to the work of world-renowned photographer Mario Testino, a native of Peru and a barranquino. The permanent exhibition includes iconic portraits of Princess Diana, Kate Moss and notable actors. There are also beautiful portraits of Andean highlanders in traditional dress.
5
Chorillos Fishing Harbour
With a local Combi bus, we will reach the Fishing Harbour of Chorrillos. Fishermen return from the sea around 3pm every day with fresh fish. Lima is known for its diverse culinary culture, but even more for the traditional Ceviche. What better place than this local harbour to find out how limeñan people do business and handle their fish?
6
El Morro Solar De Chorillos
We will first go around the little mountain located south of Lima. Discovering another less visited place of Lima. El Mirador de la Cruz, El Salto Del Fraile... From there we will drive up a hill to be able to spot Lima from an outstanding high ground point of view.
Tour Location
History of the Lima
Lima is the capital city of the Republic of Peru and is located in the central coastal region of the country. The city is part of an elaborate ecosystem that includes the Chillón, Lurín and Rímac Rivers. The city has a scenic view of the Pacific Ocean.
In Lima, everything is in endless movement, and even the past is constantly being rediscovered. Lima offers an extraordinary range of emotions, sensations, colors and flavors: travelers can visit the city’s impressive cathedral, fly over the ocean, enjoy a photogenic sunset, or savor unmatched cuisine. Lima is now the gastronomic Capital of the world.
Lima is a place of converging trends, created by its people and their living culture, where you will find every corner of Peru represented. One visit to Lima can never be enough. Lima, filled with colonial-era riches, is the only capital in South America that faces the sea, and it is hailed as the gastronomic capital of Latin America.
It is a city you should not miss!
